Charons Garden Wilderness Area

Last evening, in search of a great sunset (that wasn't so spectacular), my friend Brad and I took a drive to the Witchita Mountains Wildlife Refuge. It's a great spot. It is one of more than 546 refuges throughout the United States managed by the Fish and Wildlife Service. It's 59,020 acres hosts a rare piece of the past - a mixed grass prairie, an island where the natural grasslands escaped destruction because the rocky terrain defeated the plow.
