Kobayashi Park
Over the past five years I've been running the streets and trails around University Place. Occasionally, I extend my paths to neighboring Steilacoom and Lakewood. I remember one summer, either the last or the previous summer, running with my friend Ben. We decided to run down Chambers Creek Road to the trails sound of the creek itself. The trail exits in the Oakbrook neighborhood, where we meandered along Zircon Drive to Phillips Road. Here we took a left and soon found a trail back down to the creek where we found a rather thin log to cross over to Kobayashi Park.
Never been there. Never heard of it. Couldn't even pronounce it.
I was surprised I was never aware of such a great spot so close to home. Being there is as if I had driven up to the Cascades.
I recently revisted the same run with my friend Nick and told myself I needed to come back when I had time to explore. Last month I did just that one sunny Sunday afternoon. I wanted to go up to the mountians to shoot some photos but was short on time, so I headed here. There is not an extensive trial system from which to choose, however, it's a great spot to hang out, take a lunch, and get away from the city.

Where the wind comes sweeping down the plain.
I recently took my annual trip to the vacation capital of this great nation — Oklahoma!
My "extended family," Brad and Nancy and their two daughters, Elizabeth and Michaela live in Lawton, Oklahoma. Now wait! Before you decide I lack rational judgement, you need to consider the territory--the Chisholm Trail, Wichita Mountains, buffalo, long horn cattle, prairie grass, and lots of Dollar Stores! Seriously, it's a great place to slow down and relax--especially with good friends!
